What is Overdye?
Overdyeing garments is a way to bring faded, stained or even light coloured items a new life. We receive garments from all over the country, catalogue them, and send them for a batch commercial dye with our local garment dye partners. We then sort and ship them back to you.
Why Overdye?
Our community overdye has been in high demand, and we're bringing it back to serve this need within our community. Customers who have overdyed with us in the past have been very satisfied with the new life this process gives their clothes. From faded blacks and navy to complete transformation on light coloured garments, overdye is all about keeping products in use for longer.

Lyocell, including TENCEL™
Other eligible man-made cellulosic fibres e.g. Cupro
Small percentages of elastane (spandex, lycra), wool or polyester may be tolerated, but results may vary on those fibres in the garment. Please get in touch if you'd like to check with us prior to submitting your order for overdyeing.
Polyester (and other synthetic fibres) resists the dye, so please be aware that any garments that are not already black, may end up with a "contrast" look on the stitching, which we love! If you are unsure about anything in regards to this, please contact us.
Fibre exclusions and limitations
-
Garments made predominantly from synthetic fibres, such as polyester or nylon, cannot be accepted.
-
Wool and silk are unsuitable for this overdye. Wool is strongly discouraged due to the dyeing and drying process, which may affect the garment's size, shape and texture.
-
Synthetic topstitching may not take the dye and may remain its original colour, creating a contrast against the black fabric.
-
Synthetic trims, labels and other components may also retain their original colour.
-
Some shrinkage may occur as garments are dyed and tumble dried at the facility.
